Welcome

Welcome to Baron’s Cove and Sag Harbor,

All of us at Cape Resorts are excited to announce the reopening of Baron’s Cove, Sag Harbor’s mainstay waterfront lodging property for over half a century. Nestled just a short walk from Main Street and facing Shelter Island Sound, Baron’s Cove has just undergone an extensive two-year renovation of all of its 67 guest rooms, imbuing them with both comfort and sophistication, including classic luxuries such as triple-sheeted beds and plush cotton towels. The brand new lobby is the living room of the property with cozy, wood burning fireplaces, a breezy front porch, and a side veranda that harken back to Sag Harbor’s proud history as a port and gathering spot. The bar and restaurant that take full advantage of the sweeping water views. The atmosphere is clubby with a nod to the nautical. The grounds have been refurbished with a new pool and fitness studio, all set amidst a classic Hamptons landscape.

Enjoy the panoramic views from a table on the deck, or dine by the fire and choose from beloved classics and original dishes, all prepared with fresh and local ingredients by one of the Hamptons’ most acclaimed chefs. Or relax for lunch by the pool, and enjoy delicious and healthy updates of salads, sandwiches and other favorites.

Our goal is to welcome you not only to a beautiful property but also to an experience: an experience of authentic hospitality and service where you can relax into resort life for a short or longer stay. Our staff is trained to provide you with introductions to myriad activities throughout Long Island’s east end – whether it be our on property activities or with our many partners. From morning yoga, to complimentary beach transportation, to children’s programs or waterskiing, we are committed to making sure you feel at home while you are visiting.

Sincerely,

Sag Harbor

The Village of Sag Harbor is the jewel of the world-renowned Hamptons. Once a thriving port, it is now known for its waterfront resort qualities, meandering tree-lined streets, 18th and 19th century architecture and casually sophisticated way of life.

Located on the picturesque east end of Long Island about 100 miles from Manhattan, Sag Harbor provides convenient access to virtually everything in the Hamptons that visitors from all over will enjoy year round.

On foot, stroll up and down Main Street to discover singular boutiques, galleries, and local museums, or dine at the most widely-acclaimed restaurants in the Hamptons. By boat, explore the stunning local waterways, coves, and marinas. Or drive just minutes to the freshest local farm stands, a surprisingly deep array of wineries, and some of the finest ocean beaches on the East Coast.

With easy access to the Hamptons, Shelter Island, and the North Fork wine country, Sag Harbor is the perfect gateway to this extraordinary region of New York.

History

After nearly 24 months of work on a top-to-bottom renovation, we’re delighted to reopen Baron’s Cove to guests near and far this summer. The new resort maintains the name and footprint of the original structure, which was the first resort development in Sag Harbor, while also expanding to include a brand new pool area, chic guest rooms, a restaurant and bar serving the freshest food and drinks, and beautiful landscaping.

Baron’s Cove embraces the history of the original 1960’s hotel, which boasted prominent guests including John and Elaine Steinbeck, Paul Newman, Art Garfunkel, and Richard Kind. Local leaders, out of town guests, and regional artists—Jackson Pollock, Willem and Elaine de Kooning, Truman Capote, George Plimpton, and Kurt Vonnegut, to name just a few—regularly gathered in the restaurant and hotel.

Today, we offer that same spirit of creativity and community while also offering up-to-date amenities expected from a modern resort.

Situated both on the harbor and a just short walk from Main Street, Baron’s Cove has the unique ability to be a quiet, intimate, and accessible place to stay anytime of year. We’re proud to reopen the hotel and once again be part of the vibrant community of Sag Harbor.
